Personal Effects:
What to Bring for a Successful Fishing Trip
To help you prepare for your adventure, we have organized our recommendations into key categories. Following these guidelines will ensure you stay comfortable, safe, and ready to enjoy all that Alaska has to offer.
Clothing
-
Dress in layers: Mornings can be cool, and temperatures often warm up by midday. Wear multiple layers so you can add or remove clothing as the weather changes.
-
Comfort is key: Choose clothing that allows you to move easily and enjoy the day, regardless of changing weather.
Weather Protection
-
Rain gear: Weather conditions can change quickly, so it's important to bring your own rain gear. We are unable to provide rain gear for everyone, so please come prepared to stay dry and comfortable.
-
Sunscreen: While sunscreen often is not needed, there are times when sunny days and reflections off the water can make sun exposure intense. If you are sensitive to the sun, bring and apply sunscreen to avoid discomfort.
Fish Storage
-
Cooler and ice: Bring a cooler and ice to store your fish after returning to the dock. We provide cooler space onboard for your fish, snacks, and drinks during the trip. Ice is available for purchase in Whittier after your trip, but supplies may be limited.
-
Non-scented trash bags or large Ziplock bags: These are essential for storing the fish you intend to keep. Storing your catch correctly keeps it fresh and maintains its quality until you are
-
ready to prepare and enjoy it.
Attitude
-
Bring a positive mindset: We are setting out for an adventure that many people only dream about. Our crew will work hard to help you spot wildlife, see glaciers, and maximize your experience.
